오색 찬란한 꽃들이 축포를 터트리는 날
축복 받으며 세상에 첫 울음을 터트리던 아들아
그기쁨 에미 가슴속에 그대로 남겨두고
어느덧
인생의 반려자를 만나 두손 맞잡고
비상을 시작하는 고고한 지혜높은 자태로
푸른빛 너울쓰고
탁트인 꽃길을 걸어가는구나

넓은세상 배워야한다고
강보에 싸서안고 비행기를 탈때의 불안함은
문화가 다르고 언어가 다른
새로운 삶에서의 두려움으로 닥아왔다
pre-school 에 처음가던날 엄마를 부르면서 울던 너의 팔목에
미키마우스 시계를 채워주어도
엄마만 찾으며 울었다는 선생님의 이야기에
심성이 착하고 선한 어린 가슴에
감당하지못할 상처를 주는가 자책도 하였단다
그러나 하루하루 규율과 법을 지키며
영재 교육을 받고 운동 선수를하고
수석 졸업을하고 예일대학을 졸업하고
코넬 의대를 졸업하고.....
버팀목으로 서있는 아빠 엄마 동생 수진(carol)에게
단한번도 힘들게한 적이없는 너는
우리에게 기대와 희망과 믿음을 주었다
언제나 기대에 벗어나지않는 너의 선택과 판단을 믿었기에
인격이 잘 갖추어지고 착하고 예쁜 Geri 가 우리의 딸이 되어 행복하다
사랑하는것은 사랑 받는것보다 행복하단다
서로 서로 사랑하며 믿으며 이해하며 감사한 마음으로 살아가자

초록냄새 싱그러운 오월의 훈풍에 신비스러운 정서가
내가슴에 즐거운 방망이질을 한다
태양의 빛은 영원할것이고 창을열면 밤하늘 달빛 가득 방안으로 달려오고
그안에 별빛 초롱 초롱 반짝이리라

Oh, what a happy day!
It's a happy day

I still remember the first day you came into our lives, crying out loud.
You were blessed by the rain that was falling all around you.
You were destined to be my son, and I was destined tobe your mom.

Watching you grow filled me with pride, and now it is time for you to leave us.
My grief of letting you go can only be compensated by watching you fly into a better future,
holding the hand of the one you love and starting a nest of your own.

When we first brought you into this world, we were overcome by a formidable wave of uncertainty.
You entered the world as a pure, innocent bundle of flesh and blood.
I still remember that painful day when you first started pre-school.
You had cried all day long, looking for your mom.
We felt guilty for throwing you into a strange world.
But, you were strong enough to grow up in a land that was worlds apart from what we knew.
You learned to persevere, excelling in studies and sports.
And eventually succeeding at Yale and Cornell medical school.

Yes! You are my pride, and will always be the pride of all of us- Mom, Dad, and Carol.
You were right, and have always been right for inviting Gerianne.
This beautiful, lovely, and talented young woman, into our family.
Loving someone is far more rewarding then being loved.
And, we trust that you will love each other and create a wonderful family.

My heart is pounding with joy.
The fresh May breeze is whispering a blessing to you.
The sun will shine forever over you.
And, you will always be warmly greeted by the moon and the stars at night.

We know that you will be a wonderful doctor for those in need.
We hope that you tend to them all with care and support.
